Typhoon Down-graded

Dateline: 31st October, 2010

The day after a typhoon blew through Tokyo ending a few days of rain the Gaijin played the Japanese National Deaf Team, aptly named the All Quiet Typhoon. Coached by Fijian Paulo Nualu, the ex-Japanese 7's coach, the team had had a few recent additions and were keen to measure themselves against strong competition as they ready for a trip to Fiji for a Deaf Rugby Tournament next year.

Gaijin Climb to Victory

Dateline: 23rd October 2010

Opposition: Fuji RFC

The Tokyo Gaijin RFC were keen for revenge against Fuji Club after suffering their only loss in the 2009 Shuto League to them, despite Fuji Club finishing bottom of the table. This loss proved expensive as the TGRFC then lost their Shuto Crown because of a weaker 'For and Against' to All Jin Jan, who had also only lost the one game, against the Gaijin.  After an opening round loss to the Gentle Giants the Tokyo Gaijin needed a win to keep their season on track. Fuji Club had already beaten Gentle Giants in the League 27v17.

B side v. No side.

Dateline: 19th September, 2010

The Tatsumi ground is easily one of the better quality grounds, with facilities to match, that TGRFC have an opportunity to play on.  On this occassion it was to be a chance for the TGRFC members who dont always get runs  during the competition games to strut their stuff out on the lovely green grass.  While the game would not go down as a classic, it was eerily similar to any B side you might listen to - some memorable tunes but not one you will replay over and over.

Dominant scrum not enough

Dateline: 5th September

The Tokyo Gaijin RFC, typically slow starters to the season, gathered at Yanokuchi for their first game of the Shuto League against the Gentle Giants RFC. Despite having thrashed the Gentle Giants in the same encounter last year, the Gaijin knew that on this day it would be a tougher challenge as the Giants had picked up some new players. The Gaijin were also hoping to get their campaign off to a good start after having been pipped for the Championship by All Jin Jan last year on For and Against.
