Last weekend, Tokyo Gaijin took part in their second tour of the year, travelling to Kuala Lumpur for KL10’s Fest.

Both new and experienced players joined the trip, led by Tommy. Friday evening was a great opportunity to bring everyone together in Alex’s home country, where the team shared its first moments of the tour.

Three Matches on Day One

On the first day, we played three games. The opener was a tough one, and two handling errors cost us a narrow win. In our second game, we were caught out by the intensity and aggression of KL’s young players, who managed their energy and substitutions well and finished strongly.

Fortunately, we bounced back in the third and final match of the day, securing our first victory with a strong scrum and the pace of our backs.

Saturday evening was calm, and the team stayed focused and united ahead of our final pool match on Sunday, with a place in the knockout stages still within reach.

A Fighting Finish

On Sunday morning, we fought hard and kept our qualification hopes alive, but a late try against us and a missed kick at the end brought those hopes to an end.

Our fifth and final game, the consolation match, gave the Gaijins a chance to enjoy themselves and score from all areas of play to secure our second win. The tournament ended sooner than we had hoped, but the team remained united, strengthened its squad for the future, and will come back even stronger and more determined next time.
